For over 29 years, NMSU Theatre Arts has provided exceptional children's theatre programming through our Amercian Southwest Children's Theatre Company program (formerly Children's Theatre Workshop). This after-school program is based on the theory of creative dramatics: children learning life skills--collaboration, creativity, expression, cooperation and trust--while creating a theatre piece of their own devising.
Our program is team-taught by nationally-renowned director Larissa Lury supported by a cadre of education majors enrolled in New Mexico State University's elementary education program. It is intended for students in first through sixth grade.
We believe that great programming can also be affordable: our workshop is only $25 for five weeks of classes! We will offer two five week sessions throughout the academic year: October-November and March-April.
Every child deserves arts education. They deserve a chance to develop life skills in a safe and fun environment. Amercian Southwest Children's Theatre Company provides that and so much more!
Wednesdays, March 11 - April 22
4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Skin-‐‑crawlers, leshies, werewolves, selkies… we’ll use drama to explore these creatures and the other shapeshifters whose stories revealsomething about transformation and shifting between worlds. We began with this theme in the fall and found there was so much more to discover, we didn’t want to stop.
